Global Leadership through Public Service

A New Vision for New Era

A public platform with a global mission, the Ivy Council actively engages with students, alumni, businesses, governments, and partner organizations in our own programs as well as various forums including the varies arms of the G20, the World Economic Forum, and the World Summit of Nobel Laureates.

Founded in 1990 as the Ivy League's first inter-collegiate student association, the Ivy Council is a global platform for students in world-leading institutions. On our 30th anniversary in 2020, the Ivy Council merged its legacy of student leadership with a new vision of “Global Leadership through Public Service.”

Responding to the needs and ideas of Ivy League students and alumni, the Ivy Council has expanded its focus beyond the eight Ivy League universities to a broader aim of channeling students’ talent towards serving local, national, and global communities.

Under this vision, our programs now span a wider range of areas that allow all students and members to engage with their communities. Highlight programs include our Ivy Scholar Initiative, which expands educational opportunities and mentorship for pre-collegiate students; and the Ivy Ambassadors Initiative, which brings together young leaders globally to collectively address the world’s most pressing challenges.
