1st Keynote: C. Clinton Sidle

Clint Sidle is the Director of the Park Leadership Fellows Program in the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. Clint also works as an independent consultant in strategic change, teambuilding, leadership development, and executive coaching.


Clint has over fifteen years of experience in facilitating organizational change and development efforts for business and non-profit organizations. For over ten years Clint was the director of strategic planning at Cornell University and successfully led many strategic change efforts throughout the institution and as an independent consultant. Clint’s approach to managing change has proven very powerful. He leverages strategic change efforts with leadership development, team building, and large group intervention techniques to facilitate and deepen the impact of the process. He describes many of his methods in his first book High Impact Tools and Activities for Strategic Planning published in 1997 by McGraw Hill.


Clint also brings extensive experience in designing and facilitating leadership development programs to his current role of Director of the Park Leadership Fellows Program. His design for a leadership development program at Cornell has won national awards and recognition, and his Park Leadership Fellows Program is recognized as a unique and powerful contribution to management education. His developmental approach is based on a unique experiential learning model that has resulted in a popular leadership development program at the Johnson School and is the topic of his most recent book The Leadership Wheel: Five Steps to Achieving Individual and Organizational Greatness released by Palgrave Macmillan in September, 2005.


His current consulting clients in higher education include State University of New York, City University of New York, Cornell University, and Ithaca College. His other clients include International Outward Bound, Meredith Corporation, Borg Warner, Corning, Kellogg’s, Citigroup, Wellington Management, Grupo Generali, Advion, the American Red Cross, and many other non-profit and higher education institutions.
Clint attended Cornell where he received a BS in Economics and an MBA. He also holds a Masters degree in Applied Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. Prior to Cornell, Clint worked for Motorola and served in the Peace Corps in Nepal.

 

2nd Keynote: Edward G. Rendell - Governor of Pennsylvania

Edward G. Rendell, Pennsylvania's 45th Governor, serves as chief executive of the nation's 6th-most-populous state and oversees a $27.5 billion budget.

Governor Rendell's unprecedented strategic investments have energized Pennsylvania's economy, revitalized communities, improved education, protected the environment and expanded access to health care.

Governor Rendell is also making Pennsylvania a leader in pursuing energy independence – creating jobs in the emerging alternative energy economy while developing effective strategies to reduce dependence on foreign oil and save families money.

From 1992 through 1999, Governor Rendell served as the 121st Mayor of the City of Philadelphia. The New York Times called the Philadelphia renaissance under Rendell "the most stunning turnaround in recent urban history." Before serving as Mayor, Rendell was elected district attorney of the City of Philadelphia for two terms from 1978 through 1985.

The Governor, who served as general chair of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 Presidential election, also teaches government and politics courses at the University of Pennsylvania. An Army veteran, the Governor is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania ( B.A. 1965) and Villanova Law School (J.D. 1968).

 

3rd Keynote: Jay Hein

Jay Hein is the Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. He is the founding president of the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research, an international public policy research firm headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jay Hein also served as Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation for American Renewal, a public charity established by Ambassador Daniel R. Coats. The foundation provides financial grants and other support to community-based organizations and educates the general public on effective compassion principles and practices. Prior to taking the helm of Sagamore Institute, Jay Hein was Executive Director of Civil Society Programs at Hudson Institute, including the Welfare Policy Center, the Faith in Communities initiative, and community-based healthcare reform.
