The Ivy Council is a 501c3 Federal Tax-Exempt Organization comprised of student government leaders, student groups leaders, and students at large from the colleges and universities of the Ivy League. The Council was established in 1993 by members of the Ivy League student governments in order to facilitate effective communication between the student governments of their respective institutions and to provide a unified voice for the Ivy League student governments. Since then, The Ivy Council has expanded its scope to create diverse programming and communication lines between Ivy League students, student groups, and student governments – and the world.

Chief among its priorities and competencies are:

Access

The Ivy Council creates opportunities for students to engage with other like-minded students in a range of arenas, from policy issues to venture start-up enterprises. Moreover, avenues to connect with professionals and other students around the world are realized through the Ivy Council’s diverse programming.

Collaboration

Believing that a unified voice is stronger than many, the Ivy Council seeks to aid students, student groups and student governments in executing collaborative efforts, ranging from policy issues to philanthropic endeavors, international education programs to performing arts events.

Unity

As a collective whole, The Ivy Council functions as a Student Consortium of the Ivy League in its intercollegiate and multifaceted programs, policies and resources. Most importantly, The Ivy Council values unity as a vehicle to better students in and around the Ivy League, as well as the global community.
